DRI Ukraine invites young people to participate in the \\Democracy in Action\\ mini-grant competition

The Democracy in Action mini-grant competition aims to provide an opportunity for young people to contribute to strengthening the principles and practice of democracy. With this competition,DRI aims to increase professional growth and practical application of the skills that our graduates have acquired during their studies within the framework of projects implemented by DRI in Ukraine.  

DRI invites young people of 18-35 years old to participate. You can submit an application if you have experience in civic activity; You are an IDP; a resident of a small town; or successfully completed DRI training programs (schools,trainings,inteships,etc.),regardless of when you participated. 

Possible thematic directions of the projects can be:  

  • public hearings,public discussions,advocacy and other tools of democratic participation of citizens aimed at solving urgent problems of local communities;  
  • networking and educational events,trainings aimed at developing practical skills of democratic participation of citizens;  
  • communication activities,blogging,dedicated to urgent issues of democratic participation;  
  • Other measures of democratic participation.  

  

Preference will be given to:  

  • Collaborative projects submitted by multiple DRI program graduates;  
  • Projects that have the potential for sustainability and long-term impact after completion;  
  • Initiatives that are implemented in the communities of the frontline regions and/or contribute to the involvement of inteally displaced persons (IDPs);  
  • Projects involving active community involvement and communication.  

  

The maximum budget of one grant is EUR 1,500. Budget applications must be submitted in hryvnias. For processing the amount of the application in euros,DRI will follow the rate determined by the European Commission on the website https://commission.europa.eu/funding-tenders/procedures-guidelines-tenders/information-contractors-and-beneficiaries/exchange-rate-inforeuro_en on the day when the application is evaluated.  

  

The person who receives the grant is independently responsible for paying taxes and reporting in accordance with the legislation of Ukraine.

The results of the application review will be announced by October 31,2024.  

All the projects must be completed by December 31,2024.
