Pakistan: Toolkit for effective parliamentary reforms

As part of our work on strengthening democratic reforms and decentralisation in Pakistan, DRI prepared a toolkit for provincial assembly members. The toolkit provides a roadmap for improved parliamentary structures and builds upon the recommendations outlined in our earlier briefing paper on the Human Rights Committees in the Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa provinces.

The toolkit includes general guidelines for parliamentary reforms, strategic interventions as well as ideas for parliamentary outreach – particularly digital solutions for the times of covid-19. While the specific strategic recommendations are designed for the Human Rights Committees of the Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa assemblies, the guidelines can also be used to introduce similar reforms in the provincial assemblies of Sindh and Balochistan and inform wider parliamentary reform.
