Finding inclusive and sustainable local solutions to Lebanon’2019s garbage crisis

This briefing paper demonstrates the importance of engaging citizens and ensuring financial sustainability to help local governments deal with the ongoing waste management crisis in Lebanon.

Beyond the physical infrastructure needed to deal with waste management, good governance is crucial for a well-functioning system. This includes engaging of stakeholders through a sound participatory process and financial sustainability that ensures cost-effective and affordable waste management for local authorities.
