Briefing Paper 37: Pakistan’2019s International Law Commitments under CEDAW

DRI and the Aurat Foundation reviewed Pakistan’s international obligations related to women’s political activities and electoral participation under the Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Discrimination Against Women (CEDAW), which was ratified by Pakistan in 1996. This paper identifies areas where Pakistan is not compliant with the requirements and recommends concrete steps to improve women’s political rights.
