To support democratic resilience and better governance, DRI worked to strengthen parliamentary oversight during the COVID-19 recovery phase. This involved equipping key parliamentary committees with the tools, knowledge, and structures they needed to effectively monitor the government’s response in areas such as public health, social protection, and economic recovery. DRI focused on improving committee engagement by providing technical assistance, facilitating dialogue between stakeholders, and supporting the use of data and evidence in decision-making.

In addition, DRI helped improve internal parliamentary systems and procedures to ensure business continuity during times of crisis, contributing to more resilient legislative structures. The project also promoted parliamentary involvement in defending and reclaiming civic space by supporting initiatives that strengthened collaboration with civil society and increased transparency and accountability. Through this multi-faceted approach, DRI reinforced the role of parliament in shaping inclusive, evidence-based policies that responded to the real needs of the public.
