The Youth Talks e-Democracy (#Y-TeD) project aimed to engage young people in politics while countering misinformation and polarisation. Launched in August 2022 in response to Tunisia’s new constitution, it partnered with the two digital media Al Qatiba and Yaluna to foster youth participation.
Over 18 months, the project produced 112 digital pieces, reaching 3.4 million people, including 1.2 million youth, through accessible content on topics like local elections, women’s rights, and green energy. Social media platforms such as Facebook, Instagram, and TikTok played a crucial role in engagement.
By combining digital content with physical events—including roundtable discussions and cultural gatherings—the project built a strong community. Feedback showed 87% of participants gained political knowledge, and 75% shifted their political perspectives. A youth activist toolkit was developed to extend its impact.Y-TeD successfully made politics more appealing to young people, offering valuable insights for future youth engagement initiatives.
