Separating Voice from Noise: Insights from the 2024 EP Elections

Through a collaborative investigation with eight researchers from key EU member states,we dissected the toxicity and sentiment of political speech on Facebook and Instagram throughout this campaigning season. In addition,DRI researchers performed targeted research into dis and misinformation on WhatsApp,X,and TikTok,as well as audits on popular AI chatbots.

The EU adopted an elaborate legal framework to address such threats, but its mechanisms and effects were still unfolding as the campaign went on. Following the 2024 European Parliament elections, understanding the nuances of these latest digital battlegrounds is even more crucial now, particularly:

How did these campaigns unfold online?

Which political actors and media established themselves as opinion leaders?

How was generative AI used in elections?

Be it combating disinformation or addressing hate speech,we bring you the latest insights and answers – at our Webinar.
