About DRI Lebanon

Democracy Reporting International (DRI) has been active in Ukraine since the 2014 revolution, promoting active civil society involvement in reform processes and the political participation of youth. After the full-scale war in Ukraine started, DRI expanded its activity profile to ensure democratic stability and European integration of Ukraine in the wartime conditions.

What we do

Our work in Ukraine focuses on three important areas:

-Enhancing democracy in Ukraine through legal alignment to EU standards, trust-building, and grassroots empowerment;
-Strengthening Ukraine’s state institutions in the face of war;
-Building an expert dialogue on challenges to democracy and possible solutions during wartime;
-Strengthening the political engagement of youth within their communities, supporting IDPs and community engagement for a resilient democratic future.

How we do it

We use a host of different methods to turn our goals into reality, including

-Providing a balanced assessment of Ukrainian democratic institutions’ performance during wartime and supporting them in implementing democratic reforms;
-Facilitating harmonization of Ukrainian legislation with the EU;
-Providing expertise and analysis of reforms and encouraging open debate between stakeholders on these issues;
-Organising educational programmes for youth to improve their political knowledge and help them develop their own initiatives for solving community issues;
-Providing internships for young professionals to work in state bodies and youth centers to gain tangible work experience within public service and community organisations.

Our Project

To make societies more democratic we focus on five key areas: elections, digital democracy, the rule of law, public participation and local governance.
