In collaboration with project partners Factum Ltd., DRI aims to safeguard Sri Lanka’s electoral integrity and build societal resilience against online harms through coordinated efforts between key electoral and national stakeholders, civil society, and digital media outlets.
Through grassroots fact-checking (50 fact-checkers deployed), the project promotes active citizen participation and contributes to a more informed electorate. Project activities also include capacitating media outlets to implement media guidelines and political advertising laws, thereby bolstering journalistic integrity. A professional media landscape informed by evidence- and data-based research provided by ECSL and civil society will be essential for healthy public discourse. These collective efforts will shape the country’s progress towards fair and transparent electoral processes and a resilient society.
